Kelmscott

Kelmscott is a writing app for plain .md files on disk: write in
Source, read with proper typography, and the files stay yours, plain text that
opens in anything. The app is Mac-native, built on the system's own text
engines.
It is built with particular care for the writers most tools overlook. The free app is the whole writing app; Studio is for a corpus, a one-time purchase that adds registered vaults, search across everything a vault holds, and export to Word documents.
What care looks like
- Mathematics renders as native MathML, and VoiceOver reads common notation: fractions, roots, sums, integrals and matrices. Some accents, such as a bar over a letter, are not yet spoken.
- Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Mongolian set vertically, on screen and on paper, and Arabic keeps its direction.
- Search reads every script you write in: Japanese and Chinese words are found whole, no spaces needed.
- The app ships in sixteen languages and twenty-two locales at launch.
- The accessibility statement is public, measured against WCAG 2.1 AA.
Tideswell Group LLC is shipping it for the Mac, on the App Store. It will arrive when it's ready.
